Writing From Sources In Second Language Contexts: A Systematic Review Of A Decade (2013–2023) Literature

Authors : Owusu Debrah Cecilia .

Abstract

Abstract This paper examines the myriad manifestations of intertextuality in diverse contexts and the different strategies researchers use to provide distinctive perspectives on the concept. It looks at the various studies, the purposes of such studies, and the type of data employed to achieve the purposes of the studies. The review highlights the dominant use of critical issues such as power and identity, cross-variations, and cognitive influences in existing literature but notes a significant gap in studies on instructional pedagogies and technology. The review shows the dynamics in intertextual practices affect text construction and writers’ negotiation of meaning and authority, especially in a second-language situation. The implications of this review are far-reaching, proposing a realignment of future research trajectories to incorporate the complex array of disciplinary, social, and cultural factors that influence writers' intertextual practices, including current advancements in technology.
