Abstract : Digital communication platforms, as open spaces, facilitate immediate user integration into events, fostering virtual interactions in what some perceive as liberated environments. These platforms have bridged the gap between individuals and communities, unveiling the diminishing role of certain institutions as intermediaries in the political sphere. They have enabled direct engagement with public affairs, thereby exerting substantial influence on social, economic, and political dynamics. The significance of digital communication platforms is further highlighted by their role in enhancing awareness and understanding of both local and global issues. This phenomenon is often described as the embodiment of digital democracy. In the era of digital communication, traditional censorship policies lose their grip, giving way to new democratic practices characterized by transparency, participatory decision-making, selection of political leadership, expanded freedom of expression, and enhanced accountability and scrutiny of government actions and representatives. This research paper aims to reexamine the concept and practice of digital democracy, exploring its effects on political systems, the function of intermediary political entities, civil society, and political culture..
