Abstract: The recent proliferation of terminology within the field of linguistics serves as a clear indication of the evolution of this discipline and the expansion of its scope. This proliferation raises several critical issues regarding the capacity to keep pace with the influx of Western terms and the necessity of accurately conveying their meanings to Arab scholars. The principal challenge resides in identifying equivalent translations that maintain the intended meanings without distorting the original concepts established in the source language. A variety of methods have been employed to adapt these terms into Arabic, including the revival of traditional Arabic terminology, a practice endorsed by numerous linguistic academies and linguists. Nevertheless, some researchers contest this approach due to potential issues of ambiguity and overlap with established traditional concepts. This contention forms the main focus of our study, as we seek to explore the advantages and disadvantages of utilizing traditional terms in translation and to assess the impact of this method on contemporary Arabic linguistic studies.
