Abstract: This study addresses the importance of adopting the concept of governance as a framework to improve the performance of public administration in Algeria, highlighting the right of access to information as an essential tool to enhance transparency, accountability and participation. This right is considered an essential pillar to ensure the effectiveness of the administration and direct public policies to serve the public interest in the state. In addition, this right allows citizens to access government information, which enhances their participation in decision-making and motivates them to monitor public performance. Despite its great importance, the implementation of this right faces many challenges related to bureaucracy, the culture of administrative secrecy, and the lack of digital infrastructure. In this context, the study aims to analyse the relationship between the right of access to information and the governance of public administration, as well as explore possible solutions to enhance its effectiveness.
