China and India are among the fastest growing economies and therefore the most resource-intensive, and both countries are developing various capabilities to ensure secure access to this resource. The importance of water lies in its connection to regional aspects and its conflict of interests with immediate neighbors, as both powers have shown an unprecedented political emphasis on resources regarding the issue of water sharing in one of the most important rivers of the Himalayas, the Brahmaputra River, as this issue is fundamentally linked to existential concerns such as water security and sustainable economic growth for both countries, which may lead to the possibility of conflict between the two Asian giants. This paper aims to analyze the declared water sharing dispute between India and China with the aim of ascertaining the extent to which the dispute is likely to become a point of military confrontation, political instability and regional conflict in the region. On this basis, the descriptive analytical approach was used based on collecting facts and data, classifying them, processing them and analyzing them sufficiently to extract their implications and reach results on the subject of study. A case study approach was also used by focusing on the case of the water dispute between China and India by paying attention to the most prominent and influential elements and variables in this dispute.
