Authors : Lemmouchi Bilal . Benslim Amina .

Abstract

Abstract: This paper investigates the complex challenges involved in translating legal collocations from Arabic to French in the context of the Algerian Labour Code. It evaluates the accuracy, adequacy, and functional equivalence of different translations. Through a comparative analysis of selected case studies, the study reveals how cultural, legal, and linguistic differences between Arabic and French legal systems affect translation quality. It emphasizes the limitations of literal translation and the importance of achieving functional equivalence by considering contextual and legal factors. The research also highlights the value of using specialized legal dictionaries and explanatory notes. In conclusion, it presents practical suggestions to improve legal translation practices in Algeria.
