The Role Of Artificial Intelligence In Enhancing Governance And Achieving Sustainable Economic Development In Algeria

Authors : Hafed Boumedyen . Keche Mohammed .

Abstract

This study examines the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing governance and promoting sustainable economic development in Algeria. It explores the extent to which Algerian institutions adopt AI technologies and their impact on transparency, administrative efficiency, and overall economic performance. The research follows a descriptive-analytical approach combined with a survey-based methodology, utilizing a structured questionnaire and semi-structured interviews with experts. The study sample includes banks, financial institutions, government agencies, and technology startups. Findings reveal that AI applications significantly improve governance by enhancing fraud detection and reducing accounting errors while increasing operational efficiency. However, challenges such as digital infrastructure limitations and a shortage of technical expertise hinder broader AI adoption. Addressing these barriers could accelerate AI-driven governance reforms, fostering a more resilient and transparent economic environment in Algeria.
