The Family Business: From Corporate Governance To Performance Outcomes

Abstract
The governance system in family businesses is composed of two subsystems: the family and the business. It follows a dual logic: ensuring the performance of the entity while strengthening family ties. The goals pursued by these businesses are both financial and non-financial, going beyond mere economic objectives by placing strong emphasis on criteria related to family members. Using stewardship theory and resource-based theory as frameworks, this paper analyzes through a questionnaire-based study the moderating role of the family dimension in the relationship between governance structures and business performance.
