Mind Maps are pictographic, brain-friendly tools designed to enhance information processing. Among their components, colours play a crucial role in boosting cognitive and psychological performance. This study investigates the effects of colours on second-year students' attitudes toward using Mind Maps as a prewriting strategy. A post-attitude questionnaire was administered to 25 randomly selected students from the Department of English at École Normale Supérieure (ENSC), Constantine. Using a quantitative approach, data were analysed descriptively. Results showed that participants favoured incorporating colours into their Mind Maps, as this enhanced their cognitive functions, including memorability, creativity, and focus. Additionally, it positively influenced their psychological state by boosting motivation and reducing anxiety. The findings also revealed a significant awareness among participants regarding the importance of colours in Mind Map design. This study highlights the potential of colours in Buzan’s Mind Maps as effective cognitive and psychological enhancers, offering valuable insights for educators seeking to improve learning strategies.
