This theoretical essay explores the relationship between self-learning and active learning, emphasizing the importance of self-directed learning as a foundation for engaging in active learning practices. The study employs a systematic review of literature from educational psychology, cognitive science, and pedagogical theories to examine the interdependence of these concepts. By analyzing key research findings and theoretical frameworks, the essay highlights how self-learning catalyzes active learning by fostering critical thinking, autonomy, and lifelong learning skills. Through this approach, the importance and broad applicability of the topic are demonstrated. The findings suggest that understanding the role of self-learning in fostering active learning enables educators to design instructional strategies that empower learners to take ownership of their educational journeys and become self-directed in their pursuit of knowledge. By integrating self-learning principles and active learning strategies, educators can cultivate learning environments that promote independent thinking and lifelong learning abilities in students.
