Water scarcity and desertification are critical challenges in Algeria, driven by climate change, unsustainable land use, and inadequate resource management. These issues threaten the country’s ecosystems, food security, and economic stability. This research investigates the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address these challenges by enhancing water resource management and combating land degradation. The study highlights AI applications such as predictive weather modeling, smart irrigation, water quality monitoring, and land degradation mapping. Additionally, it examines global case studies and proposes tailored frameworks to adapt these technologies to Algeria’s unique environmental and socio-economic conditions. While AI offers transformative potential, successful implementation requires overcoming infrastructural, financial, and cultural barriers. This research underscores the need for targeted investments, capacity-building initiatives, and inclusive policies to ensure a sustainable future for Algeria.
