ABSTRACT: This study aims to highlight the principles of international law governing women's rights during armed conflicts. These rights and freedoms have received general protection, particularly for women as civilians, in addition to special care. This is particularly evident in the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, which deals with the protection of civilian persons in time of war, as well as its two additional protocols of 1977. These conventions have given attention to women's rights during conflicts, especially for specific categories such as pregnant women, nursing mothers, and mothers of young children. However, despite the momentum of the agreements concluded in this regard, women's rights during wars and conflicts continue to witness numerous blatant violations in various parts of the world. On the other hand, the study emphasized the comprehensiveness of Islamic Sharia law in addressing women's rights and even its precedence in recognizing those rights and freedoms.
