The existence of ancient ports in Algeria remains a topic of contention among archaeologists. The site of Tigzirt, which is often regarded as lacking a port, serves to illustrate how our understanding of the commercial dynamics of antiquity can remain partial without an in-depth study of its possible port infrastructure. Researchers have long described Tigzirt as a simple natural harbor with no significant port structure. This study aims to reassess this perspective by adopting a multidisciplinary approach, combining spatial archaeology and underwater surveys. The combination of these methods allows for a more comprehensive exploration of the site's potential material remains and a deeper understanding of its interactions with the maritime environment, which may provide insights into the presence of port activities at Tigzirt.
