ظاهرة الخارجين عن القانون في الجزائر خلال الاستعمار الفرنسي تعد ظاهرة معقدة، حيث كانت الظروف السياسية والاجتماعية ملائمة لانتشارها، في نهاية القرن التاسع عشر وبداية القرن العشرين. يظهر بعض الخارجين عن القانون، مثل بوراس المهاجي تعاطفًا كبيرًا مع مجتمعاتهم، ولكن تبقى هويتهم ودوافعهم غامضة، فهل كانوا أبطالا وطنيين أم أنهم كانوا يسعون للانتقام الشخصي؟ يتطلب الأمر دراسة متعمقة لتاريخ هؤلاء المتمردين وتأثيرهم على الجزائريين، وهو موضوع مهم يسلط الضوء على التحولات الاجتماعية خلال الاستعمار ويكشف عن شخصيات غامضة غالبًا ما يتم تجاهلها في التاريخ الرسمي. دراستنا الأكاديمية لهذا الموضوع استلزمت علينا التعامل مع منهج التاريخ الجديد من خلال التوسع في استخدام المصادر (الوثائق المكتوبة ومختلف المصادر المادية والشفهية)، والانفتاح أكثر على مقاربات ومناهج جديدة في حقل البحث التاريخي من أجل قراءة موضوعية نستطيع من خلالها اكتشاف دوائر ومواقع اجتماعية ومعارف تاريخية لم يكشف عنها النص المكتوب. The phenomenon of outlaws in Algeria during French colonialism is a complex one, as the political and social conditions were conducive to its proliferation at the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth centuries. Some of these outlaws, like Bouras Al-Mehadji, exhibit significant empathy towards their communities, yet their identities and motivations remain shrouded in mystery. Were they national heroes or were they seeking personal vendettas? An in-depth study of the history of these rebels and their impact on Algerians is imperative, shedding light on the social transformations during colonialism and unveiling enigmatic figures often overlooked in official history.. Our academic study of this subject necessitated engaging with the new history approach by expanding the use of sources (including written documents, various materials, and oral sources), and being more open to new approaches and methodologies in the field of historical research.
