This research deals the region of outhan Hamza, which is considered one of the most important regions in Algeria, especially during the Ottoman period. Several civilizations succeeded one another in this region from ancient times until the Islamic era, during which the area acquired the name Hamza Ben El Hassan El Alawi, according to many historical sources. It is noteworthy that the region retained this designation during the Ottoman era, when it constituted an administrative unit known as outhan Hamza. Parts of it belonged to the Beylik of the East, while other parts were attached to the Beylik of Titteri, before it was eventually annexed to Dar al-Sultan at the end of the Ottoman period. The geographical location of outhan Hamza, situated between the three provinces: Dar al-Sultan, the Beylik of the East, and the Beylik of Titteri, granted it significant political and military importance, as it represented a strategic link between Dar al-Sultan and the Beylik of the East. For this reason, the Ottomans established military forts in the region, such as Bordj Hamza and Bordj Sour El Ghozlane, with the aim of securing the road linking Dar al-Sultan to the Beylik of the East. They also mobilized the Makhzen tribes to monitor the Rayah tribes settled in the region, assist the military expeditions in suppressing their rebellions, and facilitate the collection of taxes from them
