This article analyzes the epistemological foundations of Muhammad Shahrur’s project in interpreting the Tanzil al-Hakim "The Wise Revelation", It aims to establish a new cognitive methodology for understanding the religious text, grounded in a deliberate rupture with traditional exegetical heritage and employing contemporary epistemic tools that integrate linguistic analysis with a rational, scientific perspective, The approach emphasizes redefining Qur’anic concepts within a modern semantic framework, separating them from historical and sectarian accumulations, thereby rendering the text open to continuous reinterpretation in accordance with the demands of the contemporary era, The article also adopts a critical perspective on this project, assessing its methodological coherence and epistemic limitations, particularly regarding the authority and stability of the religious text on one hand, and the evolving potential of human interpretation on the other.
