ا Abstract: Objective: This study aims to analyze the media coverage of local crime in the Jordanian news website "Ammon" during the period (2023–2025), in light of agenda-setting theory. The study seeks to identify the main topics (types of crimes) covered, the causes attributed to crime, the geographical distribution of covered crimes, the legal procedures mentioned, the portrayal of perpetrators, the journalistic genres used, the emphasis elements employed, the presentation of the perpetrator's nationality, and the dominant news frames. Methods: The study employs the descriptive-analytical approach using quantitative content analysis. The study sample consists of (172) crime-related news items distributed across (63) constructed weeks, representing the months of January, May, and September for the years (2023, 2024, 2025). A coding scheme was developed based on the study's nine research questions. The Chi-Square test was used to measure statistically significant differences between the three years. Results: The results showed that traffic accidents ranked first (19.2%), followed by drug crimes (14.0%), with drug crimes showing a statistically significant increase in 2025 (χ² = 6.80, p < 0.05). The security frame dominated coverage (40.1%), while causes of crime were not mentioned in more than half of the news (57.0%), and legal details were absent in (45.9%). A geographical bias was evident in favor of the capital, Amman (33.7%). The study also revealed an over-reliance on short news (82.0%), a predominance of neutral headlines (86.0%), and a significant avoidance of visual elements, with 73.3% of news lacking any images or videos. Furthermore, the perpetrator's nationality was not mentioned in 44.2% of the news. Conclusion: The coverage of local crime in "Ammon" is characterized by relative stability across the three years, with a notable exception for drug crimes. The site relies on a security frame and short news, neglecting social, legal, and preventive dimensions. It also suffers from geographical bias and a lack of visual elements. These findings confirm the hypothesis of agenda-setting theory that the media do not reflect reality like a mirror, but rather construct it based on their editorial priorities. Keywords: Agenda-Setting Theory, Crime Coverage, Content Analysis, Ammon News, Jordanian Media.
