This study aims to examines the key epistemological challenges regarding the inductive method, along with major scholarly efforts to address them in both Islamic maqāṣidic thought and Western empiricism. The importance of this study lies in the central role of inductive method in scientific inquiry across disciplines. While it has been a significant tool in Islamic thought, it became a dominant method in Western scholarship since the seventeenth century through the development of empiricism. Despite its prominence, inductive method faces fundamental epistemological challenges, particularly due to the empiricist reliance on sensory experience as the sole source of knowledge. Using analytical and critical methods, the study finds that the problem of inductive method remains unresolved in empiricism, but can be resolved through an integrative maqāṣidic approach that combines induction and deduction within broader ontological and axiological frameworks.
