Abstract The term "culture industry" was used to describe the influence of the media industry. However, this has changed since intellectuals and sociologists have different opinions towards positive and negative effects. This industry has recently effected music field within trade and marketing. While the academic institution always considered fundamental in promoting individual thinking and orientations, this research aims at demonstrating the potential of this institution to enable humankind determining their own orientations based on logical foundations that balance what is familiar and socially acceptable, and what is new and culturally manufactured, specifically in the artistic sphere of music. The research concluded that despite the impact of social media on artistic culture, the degree of individual’s awareness depends on the ability to choose what is appropriate and closest to the ambient environment and society, which the academic institution can provide.
