The purpose of this article is to explain the increase in maritime transport costs in Algeria and to look for ways in which maritime transport operators can participate in reducing time and thus transport costs. To do this, we collected qualitative and quantitative data through a field survey by questionnaire carried out among some large companies and stakeholders interacting with the port of Bejaia and on which we made a statistical analysis. The results show that the cost of shipping has exploded Algeria's import bill. Since the spread of the pandemic, containerized sea freight has accounted for about 70 per cent of the value of goods imported into India and about 35 per cent of the value of goods imported into Germany.
