The Holy Qur'an—the eternal divine miracle and His great speech, the recitation of which is an act of worship—holds immense merit and profoundly impacts the unification and development of Arabic, alongside its morphological, syntactic, and literary disciplines. It has established Arabic's rules, granting it compositional beauty, rhythmic sweetness, and eloquence that surpassed even the most accomplished Arab rhetoricians. This research highlights an aspect of rhetorical artistry, particularly figurative language (al-bayan), in imperative forms within Surah Al-Isra. It addresses the main question: What rhetorical significations do imperative forms carry in this surah? Employing a descriptive-analytical approach, drawing from tafsir, balaghah, and usul al-fiqh, the findings show that imperatives occur in over fifty instances. While their literal meaning is obligation (wujub), they convey diverse rhetorical significations: guidance, threat, equalization, supplication, rendering incapable, and recommendation. In 17 instances, the imperative deviates from obligation to these figurative meanings. "Say" (qul) appears in 21 instances addressing the Prophet to convey the message, and in 12 instances to legislate rulings. The research concludes that the frequent use of imperatives in Surah Al-Isra aligns with its doctrinal and educational content, and contextual reflection is essential for understanding rhetorical intent, affirming the Qur'an's linguistic inimitability (i‘jaz).
