Abstract

This paper proposes an Adaptive Sliding Mode Control (ASMC) strategy for a photovoltaic (PV) system equipped with a combined boost/buck converter. The designed controller simultaneously achieves Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and output voltage regulation despite variations in solar irradiance and load conditions. By dynamically adjusting sliding surface parameters, the ASMC optimizes the converter's duty cycle to enhance power extraction efficiency while ensuring stable DC bus voltage. Numerical simulations validate the approach, demonstrating improved tracking accuracy, increased robustness against disturbances, and reduced chattering phenomenon. The results highlight the effectiveness of the proposed ASMC control in achieving its dual objectives: MPPT and voltage stabilization in PV systems using hybrid DC-DC converters.
