Authors : Annane Afaf . Fadel Sabah . Rouaski Khaled .

Abstract

This article first defines the key concepts related to the research theme. It then analyzes the results of global startup ecosystem rankings from 2020 to 2025, based on reports by Startup Blink, in order to assess the position of Algeria’s startup ecosystem relative to other countries worldwide. In this context, three Arab countries that are better positioned than Algeria were selected as benchmark cases: the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Tunisia. The study presents the components of each country’s startup ecosystem, highlighting the key factors that have contributed to their success. Subsequently, a diagnostic analysis of Algeria’s startup ecosystem is conducted by evaluating its current state as well as the efforts made by various stakeholders to foster its development. Finally, the results are discussed, and the main challenges facing this ecosystem are identified, including issues related to internet speed, e-payment systems, limited access to financing, and bureaucratic, administrative, and regulatory constraints, as well as cultural and educational gaps. The study concludes by proposing appropriate solutions and recommendations.
