The interplay between diplomacy and digital can affect three main areas: firstly, by changing the geopolitical and geo-economic environment in which diplomacy is conducted (sovereignty, cyber conflicts, distribution of economic & political power). Secondly, the emergence of new topics on diplomatic agendas (e-commerce, human rights, cybersecurity, digital health, AI governance) and, at least, the use of digital tools for diplomats (social media, online conferences, big data…). In light of the renewal of the trade conflict between the world's leading nations (China and the United States of America), we seek in our study to determine the media strategies employed by Chinese diplomacy to address the recent tariffs imposed by the United States. Following an analytical method, with critical examination of the official statements from the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokespersons on the X platform. The most important result is that the official Chinese diplomatic discourse remained consistent with the overall trajectory of Chinese policy.
