The Waqf system stands as a primary pillar of the Islamic economy and a potent tool for achieving social solidarity and sustainable development, embodying the concept of ‘ongoing charity’ that benefits generations. However, traditional Waqf management currently faces significant challenges, including low investment efficiency, lack of transparency, and financial sustainability issues, which have led to stagnating returns in many Muslim-majority countries. This research proposes Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a fundamental transformative tool for developing advanced Waqf investment models. It leverages emerging technologies such as Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics, and Blockchain, whilst conducting a comparative analysis between the experiences of Saudi Arabia and Algeria. The study aims to explore how AI can optimise asset allocation, enhance governance, and ensure Sharia compliance, providing a roadmap for the transition towards ‘Smart Waqf’.
