This paper examines the role of Islamic finance in enhancing food security and food sovereignty in Algeria through a comparative analysis of Salam, Murabaha, and Istisna’a`, drawing on selected international experiences. The study highlights Algeria’s high food dependency, the production-consumption gap, and the limited effectiveness of conventional agricultural financing. Findings show that Islamic financing instruments can effectively support the food system, though with differing impacts: Salam is best suited for primary agricultural production; Istisna'a supports agro-food productive uses. The paper concludes that integrating Islamic finance into a comprehensive food policy framework can significantly strengthen food security and sovereignty in Algeria.
