Abstract: This paper examines the geostrategic nature of cyberspace as an extension of traditional rivalries and conflicts across land, sea, air, and space domains, emphasizing digital sovereignty as a cornerstone of cybersecurity defense strategies. It is structured around three key axes: first, the characteristics of cyberspace as a contested military domain where cyber warfare and espionage amplify power through control; second, the concept of digital sovereignty illustrated by Russia's localization of data storage centers to counter U.S. dominance and reduce vulnerabilities; third, the challenges of rapid digital transformation, which expands attack surfaces via cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT), necessitating flexible strategies that blend proactive defense with counter-offensive measures while balancing sovereignty and freedoms. The study concludes that bolstering security doctrine through digital sovereignty is essential to address multidimensional threats in the digital transformation era.
