Assessing the competitiveness of the Algerian economy in light of openness to foreign markets Abstract: The Global Competitiveness Report indicates that developing countries have the capacity to benefit significantly from competitiveness outcomes compared to large, developed countries, provided they are fully prepared for confrontation and competition. The reason for this is that they have unsaturated local markets, and getting the ability to move towards global markets through exports in the case of achieving saturation of the local market and an acceptable level of quality. In addition to having a comparative advantage due to its proximity to the natural resources market that most developing countries possess. In our research paper, we have shed the light on the competitiveness of the Algerian economy according to the Arab and International Competitiveness Report, relying on the descriptive and inductive approaches to answer the main question and verify the study's hypotheses. The study has revealed that the Algerian economy did not record acceptable levels of competitiveness compared to Arab countries that possess the same capabilities as the Algerian economy. To achieve acceptable rates, the research outcomes recommend harnessing all capabilities and capacities to efficiently advance vital sectors and their revenues.
