Digital Discourse And Linguistic Transformation In The Age Of Social Media

Abstract
Abstract: The rise of social media has profoundly reshaped linguistic practices and communicative behaviours in contemporary society. Digital platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Tiktok functions as evolving spaces where users continuously create, modify and disseminate new forms of language. This phenomenon has given rise to a distinctive digital discourse characterized by hybridity, interactivity and multimodality. Traditional linguistic norms are being reconceived as emoji’s, hashtags and visual elements merge with text to form new syntactic and semantic patterns. Beyond mere linguistic innovation, this transformation reflects broader social processes linked to identity construction, power dynamics and cultural exchange in digital environments. Drawing on contemporary discourse analysis and sociolinguistic framework, the present article examines how online communication both challenges and extends established notions of language and meaning. It argues that digital discourse represents not a decline in linguistic standards but as reconfiguration of communicative practices that expands expressive potential, fosters participatory culture and mirrors the evolving dynamics of global interaction. الملخص: لقد أعادت وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي تشكيل الممارسات اللغوية وأنماط التواصل في المجتمع المعاصر بصورة عميقة. إذ أصبحت المنصّات الرقمية مثل "تويتر" و"إنستغرام" و"تيك توك" فضاءات متطوّرة يقوم المستخدمون فيها باستمرار بخلق أشكال لغوية جديدة وتعديلها ونشرها. وقد أدّى هذا التحوّل إلى بروز خطاب رقمي متميّز يتّسم بالهجنة والتفاعلية وتعدّد الوسائط. ولم تعد القواعد اللغوية التقليدية ثابتة، إذ اندمجت الرموز التعبيرية (الإيموجي) والوسوم (الهاشتاغات) والعناصر البصرية مع النصوص لتُنتج أنماطاً تركيبية ودلالية جديدة. ولا يقتصر هذا التحوّل على الإبداع اللغوي فحسب، بل يعكس أيضاً عمليات اجتماعية أوسع ترتبط بتشكيل الهوية وبالسلطة والتبادل الثقافي في البيئات الرقمية. واستناداً إلى تحليل الخطاب والنظريات اللسانية الاجتماعية المعاصرة، تستكشف هذه الدراسة الكيفية التي يعيد بها التواصل عبر الإنترنت صياغة المفاهيم الراسخة حول اللغة والمعنى. وتذهب الدراسة إلى أنّ الخطاب الرقمي لا يمثّل انحداراً في المعايير اللغوية، بل إعادة تشكّل للممارسات التواصلية توسّع من الإمكانات التعبيرية، وتعزّز الثقافة التشاركية، وتعكس ديناميات التفاعل العالمي المتغيّرة
