Family economic enterprises represent a fundamental pillar of Algeria's national economy and a key instrument within the comprehensive reforms adopted to restore economic balance through small and medium enterprises, most of which are family in character. This study examines the reality of family enterprises in Algeria by surveying the main challenges confronting their operation and the measures they adopt to establish the principle of corporate governance. It concludes that these enterprises contribute only a modest share to GDP, which calls for an appropriate legal framework, a supportive operating climate, and bridging the governance gap, so that they can overcome the constraints of their family character and effectively drive development.
