This study aims to examine the historical evolution of the healthcare system in Algeria during the War of Liberation, with a particular focus on the experience of the Fifth Historical Wilaya. Drawing on Dr. Mohamed Ben Issa Amir’s work “A Contribution to the Study of Health History in Algeria,” the research explores the organizational and humanitarian efforts undertaken by the National Liberation Army to establish an effective field medical system despite limited material and human resources. It highlights how revolutionary medical services were structured, and how medical and nursing personnel were trained and deployed in rear bases to support combat units. The findings reveal that the Algerian Revolution’s healthcare experience represented a unique model of medical innovation and resistance. Despite severe shortages, the revolutionary health network managed to function effectively through solidarity and strategic planning. Moreover, the study underscores that the revolutionary healthcare system served not only therapeutic purposes but also strategic ones, contributing to the war effort and sustaining the morale of fighters. In contrast, it exposes the French army’s unethical use of epidemiology as a biological weapon against prisoners, illustrating the moral divergence between the two medical systems during the war
