Carbon Footprint And International Trade: An Econometric Study Of Carbon Emissions Embodied In Algerian Exports 1990-2024

Authors : Argillos Amal .

Abstract

The objective of this research is to shed light on the carbon footprint, its indicators, and how it is measured. It will also address the impact of trade on greenhouse gas emissions and carbon embedded in exports. To do so, it will adopt a descriptive analytical approach to clarify the general framework of the carbon footprint and carbon embedded in exports. A standard analytical approach will be adopted in line with the requirements of the curriculum and the challenges posed. One of the main findings of this research is that the fuel sector is responsible for more than 70% of total carbon emissions contained in exports. Furthermore, the current diversity of exports is insufficient to reduce emissions, since export diversification variable has not had a significant negative impact on contained emissions.
