This study aims to investigate the impact of work stress and its internal dimensions on employee performance in public administration, by examining the nature of the relationship between these two variables. This objective is pursued through the application of theoretical findings to a case study conducted within a public administration institution, namely the Directorate of Employment in the Wilaya of Bordj Bou Arreridj. A questionnaire was employed as the primary data collection instrument, which was distributed to all thirty employees and staff members of the aforementioned Directorate. The findings revealed a statistically significant negative impact of work stress on employee performance. The strongest negative effect was associated with the physical work environment dimension, followed by role overload and role conflict, respectively. However, the results indicated that role ambiguity did not exert a statistically significant negative impact on job performance.
