This study analyzes the factors influencing perceptions of risks associated with artificial intelligence (AI) regarding personal data in Algeria. An empirical survey was conducted among 120 Algerian citizens (purposive sample, young users with higher education). The results show that the perception of AI risks for personal data is significantly linked to the level of knowledge about AI (p=0.037) and the variety of uses of AI-based technologies (p=0.041). The study reveals a privacy paradox: concern does not systematically trigger individual protection practices (p=0.125), but generates a strong demand for legal regulation (p=0.004). Furthermore, while knowledge of Law n°18-07 does not influence fear, awareness of the ANPDP (National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data) is the cornerstone of the sense of institutional security (p<0.001). These findings underscore the importance of enhancing the visibility of supervisory authorities to ensure a smooth digital transition in Algeria.
