Assessing The Impact Of Iso 45001:2018 On Reducing Occupational Accidents: A Case Study Of The Port Company Of Annaba (epan)

Abstract
This study analyzes the impact of the ISO 45001:2018 standard on the reduction of occupational accidents within the Port Company of Annaba (EPAN). The objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management system in improving performance in occupational risk prevention. The methodology is based on a mixed-methods approach, combining a quantitative analysis of accident indicators (number of accidents and frequency rate) over the period 2016–2024, with a qualitative analysis based on interviews with internal stakeholders. The results highlight a significant decrease in both accidents and the frequency rate following ISO 45001 certification in 2022, as well as improvements in safety culture, employee well-being, and organizational performance. However, some sectoral disparities persist, requiring targeted actions. The study concludes that the standard has an overall positive impact, while emphasizing the importance of continuous improvement.
