This study aims to highlight the extent of Malaysia's success in adopting a financial liberalization policy, which, according to its proponents, is the cornerstone for developing countries to improve their financial systems and achieve economic growth, despite its association with some financial crises in certain countries. In this study, we relied on analyzing the quantitative development of some indicators related to financial development and economic growth, reviewing the various measures taken by Malaysia to exit the Asian financial crisis, as well as the reforms adopted to hedge against future crises. All of these measures fall within the framework of adapting financial liberalization policy according to its financial and economic components, despite conflicting with the policies and strategies of the financial and international community, especially the policies of the International Monetary Fund. Through this study, we concluded that the Malaysian experience was unique in that the Malaysian financial system performed its intermediation function perfectly without disruption, even during periods of financial crises that affected both the Malaysian and global economies. This reflects the flexibility of the Malaysian financial and economic system and its rapid recovery from the disturbances and imbalances resulting from financial crises
