Authors : Hasan Basima .

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of interest rates on loans provided by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and their effect on key economic and social indicators, as well as the IMF’s liquidity. Using data from 2010 to 2020, the study analyzes the relationship between interest rates and GDP growth, poverty rates, unemployment and IMF liquidity and the results indicate a clear and positive impact of lower interest rates on economic growth, poverty reduction and unemployment rates and furthermore, the reduction in interest rates was shown to enhance the IMF’s liquidity and repayment rates, contributing to financial stability and the findings underscore the importance of interest rate adjustments in fostering economic recovery and improving living conditions in borrowing countries.
