Ancient historians, such as Titus Livius, Appianus, and Diodorus Siculus, also covered the details of the events of the Punic Wars in their writings. Polybius, the Greek historian, wrote a work called "Historai," consisting of forty books covering the period from 264 BC to 146 AD. In the first books of his work, he discusses the Punic Wars between the Romans and the Carthaginians, to which he devoted three books, dividing the events in order. The first book covers the events of the war up to the defeat of Carthage, while the second and third books narrate the subsequent events up to the Battle of Cannae, which was part of the Second Punic War.
