Abstract Reading comprehension is the mainstay of teaching and learning in all school systems. In the field of teaching French as a foreign language, reading comprehension and its sub-skills are given paramount importance, during teaching and assessment. The current study aimed to examine the impact of the “Question-Answer Relationship" strategy on the development of the skills of reading comprehension. To achieve the goal of the study, a total of 30 Egyptian students (second year of secondary schools) – as a single experimental group – were enrolled in the study. The experiment started with “a pre-test” for the students enrolled in the study. Then, “a program," whose activities were based on the strategy of “Question-Answer Relationship" was implemented. Finally, “a post-test” for the students was conducted. The results of the study revealed a statistically significant improvement in the performance of the students in four skills following the implementation of the program namely “determination of the main idea," “determination of details," “comparison and contrasting," and “inference”. Although there were some improvements in the skill of “understanding the meaning of words based on the context of the sentence," these improvements were not statistically significant. To conclude, the current study recommends applying “Question-Answer Relationship" strategy for teaching reading comprehension during tutoring French as a foreign language, and this, in the differente ducational cycles.
