Abstract: This article analyzes the Venezuelan crisis through the lens of neo-colonialism, arguing that the country’s political, economic, and social breakdown cannot be explained solely by internal factors such as mismanagement or corruption. Instead, the crisis is understood as the outcome of a structural interaction between domestic vulnerabilities and external mechanisms of domination. Drawing on the theoretical framework of neo-colonialism and dependency theory. The article adopts a critical political economy approach, highlighting how U.S.-led sanctions and the global capitalist system have functioned as instruments of indirect control, exacerbating economic collapse and social deterioration. The findings suggest that the Venezuelan crisis represents a contemporary form of neo-colonial intervention, in which economic coercion replaces direct military domination, reinforcing unequal power relations within the international system.
