The economic reforms introduced in Algeria have marked the emergence of the private sector, whose objective is to absorb unemployment. SMEs and female entrepreneurship are at the centre of this development, upon which the hopes for job creation rest. Research in the sociological eld a rms the strong presence of family networks amongst female entrepreneurs during the business creation process. The qualitative survey conducted through open-ended interviews with thirteen (13) female entrepreneurs operating in the Bejaïa region, within the framework of a pre-survey, allowed us to categorise types of links—strong ties and weak ties. The research revealed a typology of support received from these networks and characteristics that de ne the female entrepreneur profile.
