Urban solid waste control has become an important environmental and planning activity in Algeria, especially in rapidly expanding city areas where demographic growth, unplanned urbanization, and evolving consumption patterns have intensified waste technology. These dynamics have imposed increasing environmental, social and monetary pressures on general government. The city of Sharif embodies this mission, as its mixed urban, rural and pastoral characteristics influence the composition and volume of household waste produced. Patience with inadequate disposal practices and the proliferation of uncontrolled landfill sites has increased soil degradation and increased risk of groundwater contamination, threatening environmental sustainability and public health. In this context, this study examines advanced scientific methods for controlling urban waste settled in Al Sharif through the perspective of environmental sustainability. It evaluates the feasibility of organizing a technical landfill as a sustainable solution for waste disposal, while identifying and analyzing the spatial, environmental, social and economic criteria required to choose a technical site for proper burial, called technical waste backfilling. The study aims to assist in the informed selection process and contribute to the development of an integrated and environmentally sound approach to city waste management tailored to the city's unique regional context.
