Abstract
Professional sports contracts define the legal relationship between athletes and clubs, being governed by both national laws and sports regulations. They combine the characteristics of employment and civil contracts, creating a complex framework that imposes professional, financial, and organizational obligations on both parties. These contracts typically cover essential aspects such as salary, insurance, training conditions, and transfer clauses. In return, players are required to follow club rules, maintain their fitness, and fulfill their professional responsibilities. They also specify the legal consequences in cases of non-compliance or breach of agreement. One of the main legal issues lies in determining whether these contracts should be classified as employment contracts, due to the element of subordination, or as service contracts. This classification affects the applicable legal framework and the competent authorities in dispute resolution. Therefore, a clear legal definition and classification are vital to ensure contractual stability and to strengthen professionalism in the field of sports. The analytical method was employed by examining various legal texts in Algerian legislation, including civil and sports law
