The objective of this study is to examine the extent to which the Cold Storage infrastructures constitute a lever for stabilizing supply, improving product quality, and enhancing producers’ competitiveness. To achieve this objective, the research is based on a review of the relevant literature, an analysis of public policies (PNDLA 2021–2025, subsidy schemes, and credit mechanisms), the use of national statistical data from the National Statistics Office (ONS) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR), as well as regional case studies. The findings reveal the ambivalent role of cold storage facilities: while they serve as instruments for preservation, market regulation, and competitiveness, they may also contribute to speculative practices. Finally, the study proposes a set of recommendations aimed at optimizing their deployment and strengthening the resilience of the Algerian fruit sector.
