The Criminal Treatment Of Delinquent Children

Authors : Ghersallah Karima .

Abstract

Children who commit crimes that violate social order and security are criminals in the eyes of the law, but in reality they are victims, not perpetrators. Algerian legislation, like that of other countries around the world, has enacted specific legislation for children and created a special division for them in the courts that issues judgments aimed at reform and discipline rather than repression and punishment, relying on simplified procedures and closed hearings that are predominantly humanitarian and preventive in nature. The juvenile judge only issues a ruling after a social investigation to help him choose the appropriate punishment or measure for each case brought before him. This has led to the establishment of special institutions that receive this category of society, with the primary aim of educating, correcting, and reforming juveniles.
