Résumé

Les violences envers les femmes dans l’accès à l’espace public de la ville d’Oran sont au cœur du sujet traité. Les progrès, encore insuffisants, mais déjà perceptibles, de la condition de la femme algérienne (au niveau des études et du travail et d’autres motifs de déplacement), lui confèrent un rapport à l’espace public beaucoup plus intense qu’auparavant, mais l’insécurité et les inégalités persistent encore. Nous considérons la ville comme un espace paradoxal pour les femmes, constituant à la fois un lieu d’émancipation mais également de marginalisation et d’interdits puisque fragmenté par ce jeu de frontières invisibles que les femmes subissent et/ou s’imposent pour de multiples raisons. Le travail présenté est issu de nos observations de terrain, au niveau qualitatif à l’aide d’entretiens et au niveau quantitatif à l’aide d’un questionnaire administré à plus de 500 femmes résidant dans le Groupement Urbain d’Oran. Although there has been some progress in the situation of Algerian women, as evidenced by advancements in education, employment, and other areas, it remains insufficient. Women now engage with public spaces more intensely than before; however, they continue to face significant challenges due to persistent insecurity and inequality. This study conceptualizes the city as a paradoxical place for women, serving simultaneously as a sphere of liberation and a setting of marginalization and restrictions. This duality is largely due to invisible boundaries, imposed both externally and self-enforced, for a variety of reasons. The research presented derives from comprehensive field observations and is substantiated by qualitative data from interviews and quantitative data from a survey of over 500 women residing in the Urban Grouping of Oran. This multi-dimensional approach provides a nuanced understanding of the complexities surrounding women's access to public spaces in the region.
