Abstract: This study explores the architecture of color in the Holy Qur’an and its multiple layers of meaning. It focuses particularly on uncovering the various connotations that contribute to Qur’anic meaning, through interpreting the dimensions and symbolism of color. Contemporary readers are no longer convinced by traditional interpretations that reduce color to inherited symbolism. Nor are cultural, literary, or folkloric legacies sufficient in offering precise or persuasive meanings for color within the Qur’anic context. This is where the central question of the study arises: How is color constructed and engineered in the Qur’anic text? What are its different symbolic dimensions? And how does it contribute to the aesthetic power of the Qur’an?. The research aims first to identify and catalog the occurrences of color in the Qur’anic text, then to interpret them through a process of symbolic reading, rhetorical analysis, and hermeneutic inquiry. It seeks to move beyond superficial or formulaic interpretations by decoding hidden layers of meaning. The study concludes that color in the Qur’an is not merely descriptive or ornamental—it is a symbolic tool, borrowed to express meanings that ordinary language may not be able to generate on its own.
