An Analytical Study Of Phonological Awareness Skills Among Primary School Students

الملخص

Phonological awareness is gaining increasing importance in educational and research contexts, as it is a strong indicator of children's readiness to learn to read. It is not limited to the ability to recognize speech sounds, but also includes more complex skills such as analyzing words into individual sounds, recomposing them, and manipulating sounds to form new words. This research paper will address the theoretical framework of phonological awareness by presenting the concept of this skill, its importance, and its levels. It will then discuss its types, the growth and development of phonological awareness skills, highlighting the most important theories explaining it, the factors influencing the formation of phonological awareness skills, and finally, its relationship to reading skills. Therefore, the current study aims to enrich the content of the following elements: the nature of phonological awareness skills; the importance of phonological awareness skills; the levels of phonological awareness skills; the components and forms of phonological awareness skills; the development of phonological awareness skills and methods for developing them; the stages of acquiring phonological awareness skills; and methods for assessing phonological awareness skills.
