The Transformation And Development Of Renewable Energy In Qatar: Reality, Challenges, And Future Vision

Abstract
This aricle reviews the growth of Qatar’s renewable energy sector over the past decade within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030. It highlights the shift toward clean energy, focusing on major projects such as the 800-MW Al Kharsaah Solar Plant and the new Ras Laffan and Mesaieed facilities, which together raise total capacity to over 1.6 GW. It also outlines key technical and economic challenges, as well as future opportunities driven by innovation and smart technologies. The paper concludes that Qatar is steadily advancing toward a sustainable and balanced energy system.
