Abstract : (In English) The city had always been a place of attraction for residents in many parts of the world and through all historical eras. This is explained by the better living conditions available to it in various areas such as comfortable housing, economic and commercial dynamism ... it should be noted that even what was produced in and by rural regions in terms of agricultural products and other means subsistence, ended up being sold in the city space, whether it is its markets, its stores or its ports ... All this helped to create an environment conducive to the development of cultural life and intellectual activities, supported by institutions education especially the mosque during the Islamic (medieval) period, as well as the Koranic schools, the Zaouïas… In this wake, this study aims to shed light on the conditions which attracted the people in the cities of the central Maghreb (Algeria ), and in particular the factors that supported and strengthened its intellectual dynamics.
